Richard designed my Mother’s funeral which was at the Crematorium. She loved nature, especially wild garden birds. Richard researched the perfect service for us a month before she died with beautiful poetry and music that was all so appropriate and fitting. We loved it and so would have she. Clare - Hampshire
I have been to two memorial services organised by Richard. On both occasions I was impressed by the way the event reflected the personalities whose lives were being celebrated. Spoken and musical contributions were woven into a meaningful programme that was more than well-planned - it was memorable, which is, after all, the purpose. There was also a great sense of style, which I found refreshing.
Events like these don’t just happen. They come about through meticulous organisation and thorough consultation, and Richard’s background has prepared him well to curate such special events.PP - Lincoln
I have worked with Richard many times when I have provided music for special and poignant services. Richard’s organisation is second to none and he has a very approachable and friendly character.
Richard is incredibly good with words - both when wanting to create a thoughtful moment and equally when a humorous touch is just the tonic.Sarah Huson-Whyte - cellist and leader of string quartet, Highly Strung
Richard has provided his consultancy services to our family during a number of key occasions during the past ten years. These included our wedding, two christenings and a funeral. On each occasion Richard was a hugely valuable resource, providing his advice, experience and musical knowledge in a calm and tactful way, during what can be an emotive time. Each of the occasions were different, but with Richard’s advice and curation they were all dignified, elegant and spiritual in their own way, exactly as we wanted. We would highly recommend his services and will be using him again for a third christening in the spring.
We sought external help initially for our wedding in terms of the music. We were aware of some pieces we liked, but wanted to find more, and understand how different works could be performed. We provided Richard with a brief and he undertook some research. We then met and he provided suggestions for hymns, choral pieces and organ music, all following a theme of British composers. Richard liaised with the church vicar and director of music to discuss their input and how the service might work, and negotiated the inclusion of an additional visiting choir, a soloist and some extra brass musicians. On the day Richard attended and ensured all went according to plan.
Thereafter, when we needed advice for christenings and a funeral we returned to Richard. He provided ideas for various hymns and the sourcing and location of a cello soloist, and ensured that we enjoy the best day possible for a christening whilst also complying with Covid-19 rules that were in force at the time. I was so pleased to play a small part in the Memorial Service of my dear friend last week. I thought the idea for some of his friends to each read a short prayer was so very thoughtful and touching. That part of the service for me, was just one of many highlights. You made the whole process for me to take part straight forward and stress free. I am not much of a public speaker so your help was especially welcome.Sarah - Norfolk
Richard organised both the funeral and memorial service for my relative. Both services were thoughtful, touching and personal. The funeral was intimate and emotional. The memorial service truly reflected my relative's life through both the music and the liturgy. It managed to consolidate memories but also created a new memory. My young sons and I talk about it often.N.R. - London
The memorial service for my grandmother was excellent. It reflected her personality, interests and the things she loved. It felt personal, was original and classy. She would have absolutely loved it and that's what really mattered. I felt as though we had honoured her in a really special and warm way. My family and I will remember it for a really long time.V.B. - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
